Azerbaijan’s government provided humanitarian aid to the flood and torrential rain affected persons

Islamabad, 23 Oct: A ceremony took place in F-9 Park Islamabad where ration bags consisting of food items were distributed among the persons who got affected by the torrential rains and flood in Islamabad rural areas like Burma Town and Pindorian. Azerbaijan International Development Agency (AIDA) donated these gifts on the behalf of people of Azerbaijan. Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmad and Managing Director Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal Barrister AbidWaheed Sheikh were the chief guests and Charge d'Affaires of Azerbaijan Dr. Ilham Mammadov was the Guest of Honour in this remarkable ceremony.

Talking to the participants, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs expressed his gratitude to the people of Azerbaijan for showing solidarity with the affected people of Pakistan. He also highlighted the Government's initiatives taken for the rehabilitation of flood victims.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Ilham Mammadov spoke about ties and shared values of two nations that bring people of Azerbaijan and Pakistan together. He also briefed the participants of the event that AIDA has provided its humanitarian assistance in 30 countries of Latin America, Africa and Asia so far. He told that the humanitarian aid consisting of food ration bags will be also be distributed in flood hit Multan, Muzaffargar, Chinniot, Leyah, Hafizabad, Sargodha, Narowal, Sialkot, Mandi Baha-ud-din, Muzaffarabad and Bagh.

Earlier than it, in his welcome address, Managing Director Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal Barrister AbidWaheed Sheikh also thanked Azerbaijan's Government for joining hands with Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal to mitigate the problems of the ailing humanity of Pakistan. He also spoke on unique cordial relations that exist between Pakistan and Azerbaijan and shed light about the cooperation which is covering almost all spheres of life. MD PBM also acknowledged the humanitarian services of AIDA for standing by Pakistan in the days of need, expressing the confidence that this move will serve to further strengthen the fraternal ties between two states and nations.

The function was also attended by members of Parliament Sheikh Akram, Sheikh Fayaz-ud-Din, Prince of ChitralIftikhar-ud-Din, Dr. Ramaish Kumar Wankwani, Chaudhry Nazir Ahmed, Aamra Khan, Ayesha Syed, SeemaJilani, TahiraAuranqzeyb, Nazeer Khan and other prominent people from all walks of life, representatives of electronic and print media.
