Azerbaijan obtained the Participant status in the Development Assistance Committee (DAC) of the influential Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD)
Azerbaijan obtained the Participant status in the Development Assistance Committee (DAC) of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
Azerbaijan has been cooperating with OECD/DAC since 2015 and as a result of the work carried out by the Azerbaijan International Development Agency (AIDA) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, our country is already represented in this prestigious organization as Participant. Azerbaijan was officially declared a Participant in the organization during the meeting of the OECD/DAC held on 15 October 2019 at the headquarters of the organization in Paris. Addressing at the meeting, Mr. Seymur Fataliyev, the director of AIDA, expressed his gratitude to the OECD Secretary-General for the invitation of Azerbaijan to this meeting as a Participant and informed the participants about the donor activity of the organization.
OECD / DAC is the most influential international organization established to enhance the effectiveness of cooperation between major donor states and international organizations in the field of support for development. 30 donor countries are represented in the Committee, while the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the United Nations Development Program are participating as observers in its activity. Azerbaijan is the only country within the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) represented in the OECD/DAC as Participant. Along with Azerbaijan, currently, only 6 countries are represented at the meetings of the organization as Participant (Bulgaria, Kuwait, Qatar, Romania, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates).
The report on Official Development Assistance (ODA) of Azerbaijan annually presented by AIDA to the organization since 2016, is published in the development cooperation report by the OECD, and this further strengthens our image as a donor state on the international level together with other leading states. Being represented as a Participant in the meetings of this prestigious organization will contribute to strengthen the prestige of Azerbaijan - a new member of the donor family - on the international arena, to increase the efficiency of donor activities carried out by our country and to develop new political partnerships.
Representation of Azerbaijan as a Participant in this prestigious organization, which unites the leading states with highest economic indicators of the world, is a clear example of economic and political growth of Azerbaijan as a result of the successful domestic and foreign policy pursued by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev.
